I like writing about flying, science, culture, the unexpected, and the places I find myself. When I’m not writing, I’m usually on an airplane. Skyfaring was my first book, and How to Land a Plane was my second.

These days I'm a columnist for the Financial Times and a regular contributor to the New York Times, Slate, and other publications. I’m also at work on a new book, about cities.

It’s always a pleasure to hear feedback and ideas - please be in touch.
